A course for the scrambler comfortable on Grade 1 (un-roped terrain) who wish to develop their existing scrambling skills to enable them to act as a competent second on Grade 2 and 3 level scrambles. The three days of training will see you progress from Grade 1 un-roped scrambling to movement and the use of ropes along with the appropriate equipment on more difficult ground. You will be introduced to the intricacies of seconding and gain a greater understanding of what leading Grade 2 & 3 routes entails. This is an ideal course for the person looking to develop a sound understanding of the broad range of technical skills scrambling entails, in a progressive approach. As well examining the knowledge and skills we'll look at clothing and packing and storage of equipment, ideal pre-training for those mountaineers heading on their first guided alpine trip.
