Equipment List

CLOTHING Specialist outdoor clothing is not required for the majority of sessions.  Snug fitting clothing in the form of conventional sportswear of the type used for running or visiting the gym is advised, preferably with long sleeves and trousers/leggings/long shorts to help prevent insect bite and scratches.  If wearing a jacket, please avoid wearing any garment that extends past the waist and could interfere with the wearing and the securing of climbing harnesses and buoyancy aids.  Please note that even on sunny days the base of the crag or side of river banks can be sheltered and cold so do bring a fleece type garment which can be worn in the event of you feeling chilly or cold.

  • Outer Layer Lightweight Jacket (Outdoor waterproof/windproof type preferable)

  • Mid-layer T-Shirt and Fleece/Long sleeved top (synthetic or cotton) No vests or cropped tops
  • Lower Body Long trousers and long shorts, no running or football shorts.  (Jeans are suitable but these must be loose fitting/stretchy and not low on the waist)

FOOTWEAR As for footwear we will endeavour to provide climbing shoes for all participants.  That said due to the fit and design of this specialist footwear some people might find the fit too uncomfortable.  For this reason all participants will need to wear a trainer with laces or walking type boot/shoe in the event of the climbing shoes proving too uncomfortable to wear.
